River The Raccoon
You may have spotted River in the forest or your backyard at dusk (almost dark). River is a raccoon that loves getting into mischief! This time we are going to make River sitting so grab your colored pencils and crayons and have some fun. Once your raccoon is colored in fold on the dotted lines. Next, you can make food for River to eat. My explorers made River a strawberry and TRASH! What else can you have River hold?
Sprouts
This is an activity I have been seeing on Pinterest and wanted to give it a go. We soaked the peas seeds over night and save our eggshells and the egg carton. We filled up the egg shells with potting soil and added the seeds. In no time the peas have sprouted and are ready to be replanted. Itβs a great alternative to plastic containers.
Sunny The Squirrel
Sunny is a grey squirrel that you can spot outside your window hanging upside down from a tree branch. Sunny is always up for some fun! At forest school we love to take hikes and count how many Sunnyβs we can find and try to spot their home called a drey. Ask your explorer to sing the grey squirrel song, then grab your grey crayon and make your own Sunny to balance on a nearby tree!
Frank The Fox
Frank is a red fox that visits the Blue Jayβs (our older group of students) from time to time. He will leave us notes, books, and art materials in the treasure tree. Frank has given us consent to represent his likeliness here so that your kids can make a Frank the Fox paper doll, just click on the green button and print him out. His one request is that you make him a home outside and have some fun!
Dandelion Play dough
Itβs spring and we love to spot the dandelions coming up. They are the happiest little flowers that provide pollinators a snack after their long winters sleep. When you pick them remember to leave some for the bees! We make a few batches of dandelion play dough every spring.cmcSo take a walk, collect some dandelions for your own batch, click on the button below for our recipe and enjoy!
